Why buy lumber from us?

Purchasing lumber from Gerber is a choice many campgrounds make and for varied reasons. Two of the most common reasons are we have a higher quality product and the amount of time required for the campground to go to the local store and sort through the boards to find a good board.  Our boards are made from Southern Yellow Pine.  Our lumber is rated #1 and kiln dried prior to any treatment.  The knots in our lumber tend to be an inch in size or less.  Our treated product is GREENGUARD Approved. This means it is passes the Children & Schools Certification. The GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification program certifies products for low chemical emissions that are used in schools, offices and other sensitive environments. It is among the most stringent chemical emissions standards in the world, requiring products to be tested annually and monitored quarterly for more than 10,000 different chemicals (Building code approved under ICC-ES ESR 2240).

What should I expect with untreated lumber?

We provide #1 kiln dried Southern Yellow Pine. We round the edges on the ends of the lumber for a more improved look. We also plane our untreated lumber to make sure the best side is the side your customer sees.

What do I need to do with untreated lumber after I receive it?

You do not have to do anything with your lumber. To make it last longer you may want to consider staining or preserving it. This is something we can do here in our manufacturing facility for an additional charge or you can do yourself at your convenience. The sooner the wood is preserved the longer it will look good and last.

Is treated lumber safe for kids?

Safe and environmentally friendly

ProWood’s wood preservative technology (MicroPro) has earned several top green certifications. This technology is the world’s first and only such product to earn Environmentally Preferable Product status. The technology has also earned NAHB’s Green Approved Product (pdf – 633 KB) certification and had been awarded the GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification.

What do I need to do with treated lumber?

It is best you wait a full year before doing anything to treated lumber. Similar to your deck you can leave it alone and it will last for many years. If you want to reduce the natural graying of the wood you will need to stain or preserve the wood in some way.

Can you stain the wood for us?

For an additional charge we can pre-stain all of your wood with the color of your choice.
